The Christian Ministry of St. John’s United Church of Christ offers nurturing, spiritual, and intellectual programs to encourage people of all ages to know, love, and serve God.
At St. John's, our Christian Education programs are a very important part of our congregation. We use the Workshop Rotation Model in our Kindergarten through fifth grade Sunday School program. We teach the major Bible stories and concepts through kid-friendly multimedia workshops such as Cooking, Storytelling, Computer, Drama and Puppets, Crafts, and Games. We teach the same Bible story for one to six weeks, while rotating the children to a different workshop each week.
Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,
for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Sunday School begins at 10:15. We offer the following Christian Education opportunities:
Nursery for infants and children to 3 years
Sunday School classes beginning with Preschool
Our K through 5th grade classes are using the Workshop Rotation Model
Our 6th7th grade classes are combined and in addition to the curriculum, they have a wonderful biblical puppet ministry.
8th grade is the Confirmation year.
Our High School class studies and discusses the life of Jesus and Christian values in current issues.
The Adult Christian Education class uses video and book series to apply Jesus' teachings to today's challenges.
On the first Sunday of the month, "Hashing it Out" allows adults to openly discuss current events, either in the news, in the church, or in the global community, and how the events relate to our spiritual lives.
We have loving and caring teachers which nurture Christian Education in every classroom!
